# Privacy policy — Shopify Product Exporter extension

> Privacy policy for the LaunchMyStore Shopify Product Exporter Chrome extension: what it reads, what it stores, what it sends and when.

*Last updated: 4 September 2026*

This policy covers the **Shopify Product Exporter** Chrome extension published
by LaunchMyStore. It is written to be read in two minutes, because the
extension does very little with your data.

## The short version

* The extension **only runs when you click its icon** on a tab.
* It reads the store's **public product catalogue** (`/products.json`) — the
same data any visitor's browser receives. It does not read the page you are
looking at, your cookies, your browsing history or anything you type.
* The CSV is built **on your computer**. Nothing leaves your browser when you
  choose **Download CSV**.
* Product data is sent to **LaunchMyStore only when you click "Import into
LaunchMyStore"**, and only to `api.launchmystore.io`, to be saved into the
  store you signed in to.
* The extension **does not collect analytics, does not use tracking, does not
contain ads, and does not sell or share data** with anyone.

## Data the extension handles

| Data | Where it comes from | What happens to it |
| - | - | - |
| Product catalogue (titles, descriptions, prices, variants, image URLs, tags) | The store tab's public `/products.json` | Held in memory to build the CSV. Saved to your Downloads folder (**Download CSV**) or sent to LaunchMyStore (**Import**). Discarded when the job finishes. |
| Your LaunchMyStore email and password | Typed by you in the sign-in form | Sent once to `api.launchmystore.io/auth/manual-login` over HTTPS. The password is never stored. |
| Sign-in session (access and refresh tokens, your email, your store URL) | Returned by LaunchMyStore after sign-in | Stored in the extension's local storage on your computer so you do not have to sign in every time. Removed when you click **Sign out** or uninstall the extension. |
| Your chosen API endpoint (advanced) | Optional setting | Stored locally. Defaults to `api.launchmystore.io`. |

The extension keeps no other data. It has no server of its own.

## Permissions, and why

| Permission | Why |
| - | - |
| `activeTab` | Lets the extension read the catalogue of the tab you clicked it on — and only that tab, only after you click. |
| `scripting` | Runs the small catalogue-reading function inside that tab. |
| `downloads` | Saves the CSV to your Downloads folder. |
| `storage` | Remembers your sign-in and progress of a running export. |
| Host access to `api.launchmystore.io` | Signs in and sends the CSV when you choose **Import**. No other site is contacted. |

There are no permissions for "all websites", browsing history, cookies,
clipboard or notifications.

## Third parties

None. The only server the extension talks to is LaunchMyStore's own API, and
only when you choose to import. LaunchMyStore's handling of your account data
is described in the [LaunchMyStore Privacy Policy](https://launchmystore.io/privacy-policy).

## Children

The extension is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from
them.

## Changes

If the extension ever changes what it collects or sends, this page will be
updated, the extension's Chrome Web Store listing will say so, and — where the
Chrome Web Store requires it — you will be asked to consent again inside the
extension before the new behaviour takes effect.
